Laura and Dustin were planning a destination wedding from across the country and knew they would need some help to ensure they (and their guests) had the best weekend of their lives. One of my most favorite things as a wedding planner is getting to curate not just the wedding day, but the entire guest experience throughout their stay in Sonoma. Yes, the wedding day is extremely important, but so is every other moment of the wedding weekend. It’s a guarantee that the wedding will be fun and meaningful, so why not have the whole trip reflect the same? Laura and Dustin specifically chose to get married on Labor Day weekend, giving us three days to celebrate this milestone event. Having the luxury of three days of events really takes the pressure off, knowing you will see everyone multiple times and if your wedding is small enough, you will get to spend a significant amount of time with each person. Laura and Dustin’s 50 person guest count really allowed them lots of time with their nearest and dearest. Since all of the guests were flying in from New York or New Orleans on that Friday, we wanted to keep things simple, but wanted to host a welcome reception to say hi to everyone. Most of the guests were staying at the Fairmont, so it made sense to host this reception at the hotel. Guests began to arrive to the hotel that afternoon and were greeted at the hotel with a thoughtful welcome bag full of snacks, advil and most importantly, an agenda letting everyone know the details of the full weekend ahead to come. Later that evening, everyone joined Laura and Dustin on the Creekside Lawn for a lovely dinner reception and toasts. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend.
The next day was the wedding at the Sonoma Golf Club. Laura and Dustin made so many great choices when planning their big day. From having Laura’s brother perform the ceremony, to naming their tables after wine varietals (and printing them on colorful tiles to tie into the venue’s adobe vibe), every chose was intentional and came together beautifully. They wanted everything to be perfect and it truly was the perfect wedding. I wouldn’t have changed one thing. From the bright colored flowers to the elaborate menu to the cigar roller we had out by the fire pit during dancing – it was an amazing wedding. Watching everyone enjoy themselves was such a good feeling!
You might think everyone would be tired after such a fun wedding, but no! They were ready to explore more of wine country. The next day, we got everyone on a bus and off to Viansa Winery they went for wine tasting and a picnic lunch. It was the perfect way to wind down after a few fun days of celebration.
Congratulations again to Laura and Dustin! We will miss working with you!
