Dan & Danielle ~ A Timber Cove Wedding

When Dan and Danielle (aka the “Danimals”) reached out to me to help them plan their Sonoma Coast wedding, I couldn’t have said YES fast enough. Timber Cove is such a special place. I love it there. It’s always been my favorite destination to take out of town guests or just escape for the day when I need to see the ocean. D + D were planning a very meaningful celebration. Everything was planned with intention. They truly were on a mission to create a unique, full wedding weekend experience for all of the people they love so much.

Timber Cove is in the middle of nowhere. Cell phones rarely work and the weather is unpredictable. It’s 3 hours from SFO, making it a destination in itself. The good news is that once you have arrived, you will never want to leave. There is nowhere else you would rather be. It’s special. You can just feel it. I truly enjoyed seeing the smile on each guests face as they parked their car and entered Timber Cove for their first time. They knew they were in for something memorable.

D+D kicked off the weekend with a BBQ overlooking the ocean, followed by an open mic / coffeehouse vibe where guests were asked to dress “moody”. Since all of their guests were staying at the Inn for the weekend, it was the perfect opportunity for everyone to meet and have some fun before the big day.

The next day was the wedding day. As if that wasn’t enough, D+D planned a series of activities for guests to do during the day. From relay races to hiking to yoga, there were plenty of fun things going on to entertain everyone while the bride and groom got ready for their wedding ceremony. The amount of thought they put into ensuring their guests had the best weekend ever shined through.

The wedding was extremely special and unique to D+D. From Danielle’s circular ceremony vision to that dramatic Pacific Ocean backdrop – it truly was perfect in every way. They asked their guests to dress in color. They had a vision of them being surrounded by a sea of bright colors – which was an amazing juxtaposition to the gloomy and stormy skies we had that day. The guests were given noise makers such as kazoos, tambourines, maracas and bells to celebrate the conclusion of a very moving ceremony of worship.

Guests made the trek up from the oceanside lawn to the Inn for cocktail hour and entered down a long corridor that was lined with “connection cards”. The bride and groom took the time to create these cards to ensure their guests who do not know each other, had a chance to meet at the wedding. The front of the connection card was a fun candid photo of each guest. One the backside, they connected them with someone at the wedding they wanted them to meet and why they thought they would get along. I can only imagine how time consuming this project was for D+D but guests were blown away again by how thoughtful and intentional they are. By the time everyone got to dinner, it felt like one big happy family.

After dinner, that’s when things started to get crazy. The energy on the dance floor was strong! I have never seen a group of people have this much fun! They certainly know how to have a good time and let loose. Slowly, guests started to disappear to their rooms and return to the dance party in full 70’s attire. I have never seen so many wigs and sequins! They took that theme and killed it! Guests continued to dance the night away under the disco ball. It was truly one of the most epic dance parties I have ever seen!

Congratulations to Dan and Danielle! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your love story! And thank you to the amazing team of vendors for making this day perfect!
