For those of you that don’t know, I have been on the board of directors for ILEA Napa Sonoma (International Live Events Association) for 9 years, currently serving my last year as Immediate Past President. It has been a wonderful experience. ILEA was founded in 1987 to foster enlightened performance through education while promoting ethical conduct. ILEA has grown to involve over 5,500 members active in over 50 chapters throughout the world. The solid peer network ILEA provides helps special events professionals produce outstanding results for clients while establishing positive working relationships with other event colleagues. ILEA members are regarded as the very best in what they do, creating a powerful and influential community of event professionals around the world, working together to find new ways to communicate through the power of live events. We are a community of creative event professionals. A community that values creativity as part of our culture and our spirit. A community that is looking to the future with confidence and anticipation, and looking back at our achievements with pride. I have met and had the pleasure of working with hundreds of local Sonoma and Napa event professionals over the last 9 years of my involvement. ILEA has really strengthen my network and relationships, as well as educated me on what other industry professionals have to offer my clients. ILEA makes me a better event planner. It helps me to stay current with design trends. It helps me to meet vendors that offer unique services for my clients. It helps me to form close relationships with the event partners that I work with on a regular basis and to meet new ones. Overall, it helps me to produce the best events possible for my clients. For this, I am grateful! I was honored to sponsor and plan our March 2018 event for ILEA Napa Sonoma. When wet weather threatened the outdoor event, we had to look to Plan B. But to our surprise, on the morning of the event, the clouds parted and the sun started to shine. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I invited Kate Patay, from Patay Consulting, to share her knowledge with 80 local event professionals, on personal branding. Her presentation was thoughtful, informative and most importantly, FUN! After that, we enjoyed a 3 course gourmet meal from Pascaline Fine Catering. It was the BEST catered meal I’ve had in a long time. It still amazes me how our local caterers can compete with Michelin star restaurants. Wine Country truly has the best event vendors in the country and I am proud to be a part of this community.
